I am tank!

For those of you whom did not know, my parents named me after a tank. To be precise - a main battle tank used by the Israel Defense Forces.

In 2005 during my travels to England I found out that there was a tank museum and so I made it my mission to go and see the "Merkava".(This is the correct spelling by the way.) I couldn't buy the tank so I bought a keychain.

I also watched program on Discovery about the 10 best tanks ever designed and guess who is number 1? Yes, that is right! The Merkava!!!

Here are a few cool facts about this magnificant beast:
- Four main versions of the tanks were developed.
- It has a 60mm mortar that can be loaded and fired internally.
- It has a 1500 horsepower turbocharged diesel engine with a topspeed of 64km/h.
- The fire-control system enables the Mirkava to shoot down helicopters and find and destroy armored attack helicopters.
- Some Merkava tanks have been fitted with full medical and ambulance capabilities.

Over and out!

I should have teased my hair.

I have never been good at any kinds of sports, the ones where you use balls and sticks that is.:) There was this girl in primary school who was just naturally good in everything and jeez did I envy that woman! I would practise at home, go to every try-out, beg my parents to buy me the best tekkies and nothing! I made peace with that.

But what I lacked in sportsmanship I made up for in confidence. I wanted to be a film star! A famous dancer! A writer! A singer! Man oh man, I wanted it all! My best friend Carli and I had big dreams! We use to have concerts for my parents and they must pay us then afterwards. We would write our own plays, choreograph our own dances, she would play piano, I would sing and so on and so on.

I went through the old photo albums last night and decided to reveal my past to you! Be prepared to laugh and cry at the same time.

Ok, this one is not funny, but is is my favourite with my dad.

I was 12 years of age here - look at the seriousness of my posing!

Ha! This is funny, I remember this as if it was yesterday!

My modelling days, needless to say it didn't last very long. Maybe because I didn't tease my hair the right way?

I took dancing very seriously!

Miss Spring 1999. A very emo one if I might say!

Do you have any embarrassing old photos? I would love to see them!

Bye!

Picture Picture in my pocket...

Daniel got me a Fujifilm Instax Mini Camera as a wedding gift. Who said the days of polaroids are dead?! I still have my parents old Polaroid Camera but after a very long search I found out that they don't make the film anymore.

You get credit-card sized pictures in minutes, the camera has a built-in cover and automatic flash and an auto focus lens. Plus everybody looks fantastic on polaroids!

I love these two of our wedding rings - it was taken on our honeymoon.

Is there any of you who has one of these? Let me know what you think!

Mirka, your bags are just devine! Why thank you kind stranger!

I have been busy with a few projects lately. I love spending time behind my sewing machine. I put on some old school tunes, make myself a lovely cup of tea and create like there is no tomorrow. It is where I escape into a world that is my own.

My latest project is for the Parys Museum. I got some really old photographs of this little town from way back and I mean way back like when there were only horses for transport and men had one piece swimsuits.

Parys Museum is up and running at the moment and the lady there is doing a really good job of keeping it up, keeping it clean and keeping it open.(Now there is a good slogan, hey?!) These awesome bags are for sale at the Parys Museum.

Bye bye!

Fear of Heights took a ninja kick in the face.

For those of you who know me very well, know that I have every possible phobia that exist. Except for the one where peanut butter gets stuck to the roof of my mouth. Now that is just silly.

We went to Water Boven for some rock climbing and on my first day I did very well. Now this is quite an achievement for me because last year I got stuck on a rockface where I couldn't go up or down. It was only 3 metres from the ground.

One of my favourite things are travelling to small towns. I love going to all the little shops and speaking to the locals. Waterval Boven is beautiful and the barlady had no idea what a Gin & Tonic was. I quickly helped her.
